As an extension of the SIMPLE project, EVEIL, led by IRD, takes immersive education a step further by adapting Virtual Reality (VR) tools for French language learning. Building on SIMPLE’s virtual universes focused on environmental awareness, EVEIL now offers innovative pedagogical materials tailored for French-speaking classrooms.

In July, 12 French teachers from across Vietnam gathered for an interactive workshop hosted by the EVEIL team. Together, they explored how VR can transform language and environmental education. Teachers collaborated to co-design adaptable teaching scenarios using the “BiodiVRestorer” universe and the Mobile Learning Metaverse Lab (M2L2), aiming to make learning more engaging and immersive.

For many participants, this marked their first experience with VR – a moment filled with excitement and curiosity. The tools sparked fresh thinking on how digital technologies could enrich classroom learning. Still, a few teachers voiced concerns about the complexity of VR integration, highlighting the need for technical support and time to adapt their lesson plans.


Despite these concerns, the workshop concluded with optimism and motivation. Teachers expressed openness to incorporating VR into their curricula, seeing it as a powerful way to engage students and deepen their understanding of both language and sustainability topics.
The EVEIL project stands as a promising bridge between innovation and education – amplifying the foundations laid by SIMPLE and opening doors for immersive learning experiences across Vietnam.
