CALL FOR TENDERS: Technological developments for the SIMPLE project

The French National Research Institute for Sustainable Development (IRD) is launching a tender for technological development within the framework of the “SIMPLE” project from October 2025 to October 2026. This project aims to design VR activities to support a scientific approach to sustainable development in Vietnam, Lao PDR, Thailand and Cambodia.

  • Mission

The selected service provider will be responsible for the design and implementation of hardware and software platforms. They will also ensure technological monitoring, internal testing, technical platform documentation, preparation of user guidelines, and participate in training sessions.

  • Tasks and activities
  • Essential platform developments (open-sourcing and reusability).
  • Meta Quest 3 (Android) development and administration
  • Constant technological monitoring.
  • Internal testing of pilot versions.
  • Platform documentation and coordination with teams on each site.
  • Preparation of guidelines for platform reuse.
  • Participation in training sessions.
  • Profile of the tender 
  • Proven experience in the metaverses and gamification processes. 
  • Proven experience in the domain and its current state in South-East Asia. 
  • Proven experience in offline Meta Quest administration
  • Proven experience in web development
  • Ability to identify the right equipment and software to use in the project. 
  • Ability to communicate in English and French with the project’s partners.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and to quickly adapt to multiple priorities. 
  • Proven experience in GAMA Platform and Unity3d engine would be a plus
  • Deliverables and schedule 

Tasks will begin in October 2026 and extend until October 2027. The expected deliverables are:

  • December 2025:
    V1 of the operational and documented hardware and software platforms.
     Internal test reports of V1.
     Participation in training sessions in Lao PDR and Cambodia.
     Guidelines for the use and reuse of V1.
  • February 2026:
    Delivery of V1 to the SIMPLE contest participants.
     Test reports of V1.
  • April 2026:
     V2 of the operational and documented hardware and software platforms.
     Internal test reports of V2.
     Guidelines for the use and reuse of V2.
  • June 2026:
     Delivery of V2 to SIMPLE partners and contestants.
     Participation in support sessions for SIMPLE contestants.
     Test reports of V2.
  • August 2026:
     V3 of the operational and documented hardware and software platforms.
     Internal test reports of V3.
     Guidelines for the use and reuse of V3.
  • October 2026:
    Delivery of V3  to SIMPLE partners and contestants.
     Writing of final report and guidelines.

Call for Tender: Fundraising & Communications Support Officer for the VR contest of the SIMPLE project

Context SIMPLE is a project co-funded by the European Union that aims to explore the value of virtual reality (VR) in raising young people’s awareness of sustainable development challenges. The project is based on the design of teaching methods using combinations of serious games, scientific models and VR activities, conceived in cooperation with educational players in four countries (Cambodia, Vietnam, Lao PDR and Thailand). ÉVEIL Project Conducts School Visits Ahead of its Official Implementation
